Consents
Patient assists the right to be informed about the proposed treatment and alternative therapies, risks and likelihood of adverse outcomes, to be able to make an affirmative decision. This consists of Law 17.132 in art. 896, 897, 902, 904, 905 of the Criminal Code and Law 21,541 art. 16 of the Civil Code establishes the obligation to inform the patient and his or her closest relatives of the risks and benefits of the indicated treatment. Informed consent is the formal medical procedure whose purpose is to apply the principle of patient autonomy. This consent must be voluntary, informative and understandable. The patient should freely decide to undergo treatment without persuasion, manipulation or coercion. The information provided in the consent should be understandable and should include the purpose of the treatment, its procedure, the potential benefits and risks and the possibility of rejecting the treatment. Treatment. In case of minor patients or incapacity of the legally recognized patient, physical or mental, it is admitted that the informed consent is requested to its legal representative, who will generally be the next of kin.
