There are several generations of medical ancestors for more than 200 years, present even during the Spanish War of Independence, who have practiced medicine in the army, rural and hospital settings. Based on the necessary specialization to which medicine evolved in the early 1900s, Mr. Recaredo Loscos Mulet opted for Ophthalmology, practicing professionally in Tortosa, and later his son, Francisco Loscos Piñol, moved to Barcelona.

Currently there are four generations of Ophthalmologists. Jordi Loscos Arenas works as an Ophthalmologist at the Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital in Badalona, Irene Loscos Giménez works as an Ophthalmologist at the Santa Creu i Sant Pau University Hospital in Barcelona, developing both activities in the field of research, care and teaching.
